Beats FAQ’s

Ok so your interested in beats but you do not understand the lingo. Heres a brief list of definitions to better help you understand what you are getting into.

LEASES (non-exclusive rights):

These are what are typically offered online, and also why they are so cheap. A lease grants you the rights record and sell or perform songs you make on our beats. Opposed to a free download which is legally obligated to be non-commercial (cant sell it) if you plan on trying to make money off your music. There are stipulations to leases as well, the beat can still be sold it is not “exclusively” yours and there are always sales caps on the amount of sales you can make before the contract has to be re-negotiated. A typical sales cap ranges anywhere from 500 units to the old school 5000 mark. The 10 Beats for $150 deal on the left of the page is for leases FYI.

LEASE w/Track Out (or tracklines, stems etc.):

This is a non-exclusive license as described above but also includes the individual elements of the beat in separate wav files. This allows you to alter the mix, balance and arrangement to suit your projects needs. This allows you to make your songs sound uniform more easily from track to track on your album if you have beats from different producers, or change the arrangement to how you want it. Lease w/Track Outs are also available on the left of the page.

EXCLUSIVE (exclusive rights etc.):

This is what you traditionally want to buy if you are making an album. You receive the same track outs as the above package but unlike a lease the beat is solely yours. There is no sales cap and you can anything you want with the beat aside from resell it on its own. If you are trying to actually make money from your album and you are truly serious about your music this the best option by far. Exclusive Rights range from $100-$350 in price depending on the producer, the amount of beats you buy and which beats they are. There is no set price for exlcusives as they are set by the producer themselves as to what they believe the beat is worth.
